Before anything could happen, Asakura Ryouko stepped in to save him. She is shown to have exceptional physical abilities - even being able to stop Ryouko's knife that was thrown at a strength higher than what was expected that Kuyou could block; she was also able to completely counter Ryouko's powerful offensive attack. Kuyou also seems to have a special ability which is something that Kyon describes as her being able to turn into a 2D figure and then rotating 90 degrees (so she will only appear as a thin line). It should also be stated that Kyon detects a bit of emotion in her voice at one point. Also, her skin flushes which is a trait that is not present in any of the other humanoid interfaces. Nagato seems to be stricken ill at the end of the Dissociation arc because of her. Emiri thinks that it is likely that Kuyou is interested in Haruhi Suzumiya for the sole purpose that the Data Overlord is interested in Haruhi Suzumiya; therefore, their faction is too. His mother was a professional swimmer, and when she died in a car accident, the only comfort and solace he could find was in the swimsuit that she left behind. Psychologically replacing his mother with swimsuits, Sugu developed a mother-swimsuit complex.
