Chunyan cares deeply for her village and her people, and is determined to get the oppressive Ryanban - the man responsible for the death of her powerful Shinban mother - out of power, and avenge her mother's death.

Due to the Wookies aiding the Jedi, the now Imperial forces retaliated against Kashyyyk, forcing Chewbacca to leave the planet. He was later saved from Imperial and Trandoshan slavers by the Imperial lieutenant Han Solo, whom he stayed with ever since.

An Imperial senator and the princess of Alderaan, as well as a figurehead for the Rebellion. She was captured by the Empire above Tatooine when her Corellian corvette Tantive IV was transporting the Death Star plans to a rebel base, and was later rescued from aboard the Death Star by Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.
