Section 2 Division 2 Team 1: The giant from Okinawa. He is soft-spoken and kind-hearted. He wanted to join his father as a fisherman but easily gets seasick. He later joined the police force and eventually made it over to SV.2. Yamazaki's too large to fit in a labor's cockpit, so he is designated as the carrier driver for Unit 1. When not on duty he tends to SV.2's vegetable garden where his green fingers can be seen. He's extremely strong, as demonstrated in Movie 1 and 2 where Yamazaki mans the massive anti-labor rifle borrowed from the Narashino Parachute Labor team (apparently an M82 anti-material rifle). His Personas excel at physical attacks and party buffs, and can also cast weak fire magic. Junpei joins SEES near the beginning of the game. He was found crying in a convenience store during the Dark Hour, and did not realize that he had the potential to call a Persona until Akihiko told him about it. His decision to join SEES was a swift one, and he immediately moved into their dorm, to Yukari’s dismay. Initially, Junpei fights because playing hero makes him feel like less of a loser. He uses his place in SEES to prop up his self-esteem, neglects his classwork, and snaps at the Main Character out of jealousy over his unique Persona abilities. Junpei only becomes more serious after he meets the Strega member Chidori. They fall for each other, and though she continues to fight SEES, eventually her loyalty to Takaya and fear of death conflict with her feelings for Junpei. When Takaya fatally attacks Junpei, Chidori sacrifices her life to save his and gives him some of her regenerative power. After her death Junpei becomes a focused and determined young man. In Persona 3: FES, it is revealed that he once met Koromaru when he had run away from home -- specifically, his alcoholic father. Character designer Shigenori Soejima has stated that Junpei is "the most important character when it comes to getting the player to buy into the story," because of all the major characters, he is one who looks and acts the most like a normal teenager. Junpei also makes a brief apperance in Persona: Trinity Soul, as he is seen at the police station.

Age: 16-17 Date of Birth: Unknown, 1992 Height: 170 cm (5'7") Blood type: O Initial Persona: Orpheus Ultimate Persona: Messiah Weapons: multiple Weapons, one-Handed Swords Arcana: Fool, Death, Judgement, Universe Makoto Yuuki is an orphan; his parents died ten years prior to the events of Persona 3, which sees him returning to the city he grew up in. He moves into the dorm in the introduction of the story, learning of his ability to summon a Persona when the dorm is attacked by Shadows during the Dark Hour. Mitsuru asks him to join SEES and he is later elected the team's leader in combat. Makoto is unique among his cohorts in that he has the ability to carry multiple Personas and switch between them during battle. He is also the only character with access to the Velvet Room. In December we learn that a Shadow known as "Death" was sealed in Makoto as a child by Aigis, who was unable to defeat it herself. The Death Shadow was able to lead Makoto to twelve other greater Shadows; by defeating them, The Appriser was created, a being which summons Nyx to the world to bring about its destruction. SEES battles The Appriser on the roof of Tartarus, but are not able to stop Nyx's descent to Earth. Makoto enters Nyx and is able to seal it using the power of the Social Links he formed over the past year. While able to seal away Nyx from humanity, Makoto dies after the battle and his soul becomes the Great Seal. In Persona 4, it is revealed that Igor's assistant Elizabeth left her position to find a way to rescue Makoto from his fate as the Great Seal. The initial Persona of Makoto is Orpheus, although through Persona fusion and other means he has access to over 170 different Personas. His true Persona is Thanatos of the Death Arcana and his Ultimate Persona is a fusion between Orpheus and Thanatos, known as Messiah. Soejima took longer to design the Main Character than any other character, as the game's other characters would be made to complement his design. Soejima wrote in Art of Persona 3, "Initially, he looked more honest, like an ordinary, handsome young man. But, I worked to achieve greater ambiguity in his expression."
Tsuru-Sen'nin (Crane Sage) is the older brother of Tao Pai Pai, and master to Tenshinhan and Chaozu. In an early Harmony Gold English dub from the 1980s, he is known as Lord Wu Zu. He was once comrades with Muten-Roshi and studied under the same Martial Arts school. However, they were defeated by the evil forces of the Piccolo Daima and their mentor and sensei Mutaito-sama died after sealing the demon away. Over time, bitterness and resentment began to grow in his heart and he eventually turned away from his master's old teachings and began a school where his hatred of the world began to spread among his pupils. In the 22nd Tenka-ichi Budokai, he entered his two star pupils, Tenshinhan and Chaozu to counter Muten-Roshi's pupils, Goku, Kuririn, and Yamcha. After Tenshinhan and Chaozu left him, he had his brother Tao Pai Pai rebuilt back to life as a cyborg (Tao was blown up by his own grenade that Goku kicked back at him), and had him enter in the 23rd Tenka-ichi Budkai to exact revenge on both Tenshinhan and Goku. Tenshinhan, however, easily knocks out Tao with a punch and warns Tsuru-Sen'nin that he never wants to see both of them again.
