She was one of the top 12 of her year, so she became a valet, but what she does not know is that Kirito did not choose her. Instead she was left along with Tieze after all other elite swordsmen selected their valets. In battle and most of the time in the game, she keeps a cool head that actually makes other female players admire her; however, Sinon has a violent temper once angered - something that is best seen with her interactions with Kirito. It is actually said that Kirito is the first one to make her extremely angry. Despite all this, Sinon, while may be hard to approach, is generally a friendly person and doesn't mind helping others. She becomes a Cait Sith archer in ALO where she is capable of hitting targets from 200m away despite her bow being limited to 100m. Kirito is the protagonist of Sword Art Online. He is a "solo" player, a player who hasn't joined a guild and usually works alone. He is also one of the very few people to have had the privilege to play in the beta testing period of Sword Art Online. His game alias, Kirito, is created by taking the syllables of the first and last Kanji of his real last and first names respectively: (Kirigaya Kazuto). In the real world, he lives with his aunt and younger cousin in a family of 3. When Kayaba announced the start of the death game, he is surprised, but unlike everyone else he quickly gets over it and accepts it to an extent. He invited his friend Klein to go with him but Klein had to find his friends in the game. He was invited to join them but he declined as he couldn't take the pressure of protecting them even with his beta testing knowledge of the game. Kirito tends to use a single handed straight sword. The blade that he uses most often is the Elucidator. Later on he acquires a second blade called Dark Repulser that was made by his blacksmith friend, Lisbeth. He was the first one to be called a Beater, a combination of beta testing and cheater, as he had great knowledge of the game through the beta test period and showing great skills in floor clearing but chose not to help other players. He had it imposed on himself so as to differentiate the beta testers who were just picked in the testing and the serious gamers who uses the knowledge efficiently like a cheat. He has a unique skill called <<Dual Blades>> which allows him to dual wield two swords and use Swords Skills. It's the special skill designed for the Hero that defeats the Demon Lord at the last floor. He found it in his skills list after a year in the game. After nearly mastering it, he only uses it in emergencies to avoid attention for being one of the few people to have a unique skill. He befriends a girl by the name of Yuuki Asuna who later becomes his lover. In the 10th volume of the Accel World light novel and the 5th volume of the Accel World manga Kirito is featured in a special chapter, in which he fights Sliver Crow, the burst linker. In the chapter, Kirito is playing as his old SAO avatar, wielding the Elucidator and Dark Repulser.

Argo "The Rat" serves as an information broker and courier in the Sword Art Online death game. Kirito and Argo suspect each-other to be a fellow beta testers but each refuse to ever confirm the topic. As a broker, she is known to sell any information for any price, including the story of her mysterious trademark whiskers. While she sells information to some at occasionally hefty prices, she is also known to be the author of free guide books situated in most town shops to help beginners. Argo's whiskers were originally drawn on during a quest to learn the "Martial Arts" skill during the beta test. Unable to complete the quest before beta testing ended, they became her trademark and source of her nickname.

Sword is possessing a weak human known as Souma. His main goal is to try to regain a new demonic body any way possible. As a human his demonic powers are limited to almost nothing. Later on he obtains helpful items such as bat cat, the devil spawn and fragments of Satan's soul. He also is currently attempting to overthrow Satan because Satan and most of Hell want Sword dead.
