Lucy is an alien girl who doesn't have much expression and doesn't have any friends. In the anime, she introduces herself to Takaki's class as 'Ruuko Kirei na Sora', which means 'beautiful sky.' She meets Takaki in the sixth episode of the anime, but we see her in an earlier episode without any dialog. She refers to herself as 'Ru', the name of her home planet and the beings on it, and to earth and earthlings as 'Uu'. She greets people by reaching for the sky and saying, 'Ru!' Himeyuri Sango in particular enjoys mimicking Lucy's greeting. Lucy has a cat that almost drowns in the sixth episode but it is saved with the help of Takaaki; Lucy summons a thunderbolt which splits a tree, forming a bridge which Takaaki crosses to lift the cat out of a raging river. Lucy terms this stray cat 'the Nya', saying that it is a special species that can enjoy the true taste of food, and like Ru, Nya is alone on Uu. Lucy likes to cook the Nya fish broiled over a charcoal clay pot, which according to her is the best cooking device available on Uu. Apparently a currency of Ru is matchsticks, one of which is enough to buy a whole rocket engine. Lucy irritates the cafeteria cook of Takaaki's school by attempting to treat Takaaki to the best meal the cook can prepare by paying the cook first one, then two matchsticks, however Lucy is somehow able to successfully purchase her charcoal clay pot and fish to br with matchsticks. Lucy says that on Ru, it is said that the only good Uu is a dead Uu, but Takaaki is a special Uu.
Suzuki Sonoko is the daughter of Suzuki Tomoko and Suzuki Shiro, the extremely wealthy family of a large company. She has a sister, Ayako, and an uncle named Jirokichi, who is often involved in trying to capture the Kaitou Kid. Sonoko and Mouri Ran have been best friends ever since they were little. Sonoko is often there to help Ran whenever she is bullied by other school children, more often there than even Shinichi was. Although Ran knows that Sonoko has a lot of money, she always makes sure that money never gets involved in thier friendship, not going to ski vacations with Sonoko because she doesn't have the money, when she knows that Sonoko would pay for her to go. This, along with other things, has helped strengthen the bond between both Ran and Sonoko. Before she began dating Kyougoku Makoto, Sonoko displayed the typical girl her age, acting very boy-crazy, and often mostly thinking about trying to snag the "perfect boy." She would often act sad because she couldn't get a boyfriend, using all necessary means to try and get one. She often dressed in clothes meant to attract boys, and would try to sweet talk her way into being with a boy, by making him chocolates, trying to impress a boy while wearing a bikini, or going to various events that young guys were going to attend. Ran, in the meanwhile, would always be the one to unwillingly attract the boys, which would cause jealousy in Sonoko. However, this all changed when Sonoko met and began dating Makoto.... well, not quite. She still flirts with boy sometimes, but in the end it's still Makoto that she likes. Sonoko often teases Ran, saying that Shinichi is Ran's husband, or things like that.

Chichiri (井宿?), a wandering monk, has trained for several years with Taiitsukun, the creator. A 24 year-old native of a village on the ShÅ�ryÅ« River (near the northern KÅ�nan-KutÅ� border), he variously wields a shakujÅ� staff, kasa hat, and kesa mantle to fight and employs various magical techniques taught by Taiitsukun, the first of which was the ability to form a barrier around himself. His true name is Houjun Ri (æ�Ž 芳准, Ri HÅ�jun?), born under the star Well (井). As the oldest and wisest of all of the Suzaku warriors, Chichiri thinks of himself as the older brother who looks after them all. Appearing superficially light-hearted, he can put on super deformed 'chibi' frivolity or suddenly be very serious and grim. While Tamahome and Hotohori are the obvious leaders, Chichiri is the ever-staunch adviser and supporter from behind the scenes, always willing to help when needed. Unconcerned with his own mortality or with earthly desires, he has a Zen master's detached attitude. He habitually ends many sentences with the emphatic phrase "no da", translated as "ya know" in the anime's English version (omitted in the English dub). When he first appears, Chichiri constantly wears a smile on his face, though he later accounts for his face as a mask with features he can move on reflex in order to make it resemble a natural face. His true face resembles his mask, save that one eye has been scarred by an injury across his forehead. When he was eighteen, Chichiri had been engaged to be married; after his best friend stole a kiss from his fiancée, she called off their betrothal. Chichiri was enraged at the betrayal and the two men began to fight. While they were fighting, a heavy rainstorm caused the Shoryuu River flooded their home village. Most of the inhabitants were drowned, including Chichiri's family and his fiancee. His friend fell into the rushing water and Chichiri attempted to rescue him, but a nearby log smashed into Chichiri's eye and gouged it out, resulting in the scar on his face. Unbeknownst to Chichiri, his friend survived, but resentfully believes that Chichiri had abandoned him to die. When they meet again, this mistaken resentment causes him to resume the old battle, but ends when the story behind the dreadful scar is revealed. Keisuke is Miaka's older brother. He's very protective of Miaka and always thinks what's best for her. At first, when he heard the story about The Universe Of Four Gods from Miaka, he had problems believing her but to make sure, he told her not to go near the book. In spite of that, Miaka went and he went after her. It was not until when he saw her disappear into the book, did he believe the story and throughout a large part of the anime, he is the one who reads the book and at the same time tries to figure out how to help her return to the real world.
