The wife of Shigeru Fujiwara. In the past, she offered Natsume Takashi to live with her and her husband, since she is unable to bear children. Touko is a very kind and loving housewife who treats Natsume as her own child, and she cares about him a lot, providing him with the mother-figure he always wanted.
The husband of Touko Fujiwara. Along with Touko, Shigeru took Natsume over and he and his wife raise him as their own child. He is a quiet and considering man. When he was young, he met Natsume's grandmother Reiko and they became friends.
Natsume's friend from class. He is a sensible and rational person.
Takashi Natsume's grandmother, from whom he inherited the ability to see yokai. Reiko had high spiritual energy, which gave her the ability to see and seal yokai. Reiko was always shunned and even got rocks thrown at her for being able to see yokai. That is why she created the Book of Friends, Reiko was lonely and wanted friends. Since she believed no human could ever understand her, she turned to the spirits for companionship. Reiko was extraordinarily powerful, and so she bullied spirits into obeying her by playing games with them. If they lost, she would make them give her their names. Reiko gathered the names into the Book of Friends, this gave her the ability to summon whichever yokai she had the name of. A necessary part of the sealing was her saliva and breath. Madara mentions that she had sloppy table manners and was very forgetful. Reiko died when she was young, so no one remembered her.
Hamaji is like a sister to Shino and Sosuke, having been raised with them since childhood. Along with them, she survived the destruction of Otsuka Village. She is something of a health nut, and obsessed with making sure everyone around her maintains a proper diet, but her cooking skills leave a lot to be desired. Unlike her pretty appearance, she often manipulates Shino and Sosuke, but in heart, she cares about them. There are hints that Kaname has feelings for her, but those feelings haven't been addressed. Her real name is Mutsuki Inuyama. She is Dousetsu's long lost younger sister. Hamaji abandoned her name and memories of her family thinking that her brother abandoned her.
Holder of the Fraternity bead. Kobungo's family runs the Konaya bed-and-breakfast inn, and Kobungo himself is excellent at caring for people's needs. Three years ago, he volunteered as a foot soldier and accompanied his foster brother Genpachi in an army deployment sent to contain an incident taking place in a remote northern village, where the two of them were brutally attacked by man-eating demons. But the brothers came back to life with changed bodies, now able to transform into demons themselves. Kobungo's peony-flower birthmark is on his lower back.
One of the four member of the "Sacred Beast Four Family", he materializes his spirit in form of an Okami (a giant white wolf). He is the one who saved Shino, Sousuke, and Hamaji during the destruction of the Ootsuka Village. He is the one who asks Sousuke and Shino to find the other bead holders for an unknown purpose. He is cold and calm, but he most likely had a close relationship with Shino in the past, as shown in he and child Shino holding hands while walking. And he, in fact, cares for Shino a lot. Rio doesn't smile a lot, but he once smiled gently while gazing at the sleeping Shino, which was an inspiration for Daikaku to finish his dolls.
