A childhood friend of Luke Skywalker and an Imperial deserter, Biggs piloted a T-65 x Wing starfighter for the Rebellion. He was shot down over the Death Star during the battle of Yavin.

Luke grew up on the backwater world of Tatooine with his aunt and uncle, and bought R2D2 and C3PO from a band of Jawas. Discovering Princess Leia's plea for help that was recorded by the Astromech droid, Luke sought out Obi Wan, and started the journey that would bring him closer to both his past and his future.

A smuggler owning the freighter Millenium Falcon, Han had dumped his cargo to escape from an Imperial cruiser during a smuggling run for Jabba the Hutt, causing Jabba to eventually put a bounty on his head. He agreed to help Luke and Obi Wan to rescue Leia Organa, and ended up working regularly for the Rebellion.

One of the jedi who survived Order 66, Obi Wan traveled to Tatooine to watch over Luke Skywalker and ensure that the Empire never found him.

The sole survivor of the astromech droid team on Queen Amidala's J-type 327 Nubian royal starship. R2D2 later served as Anakin Skywalker's astromech droid, as one of the droids on Leia Organa's ship Tantive IV, was found by Jawas and sold to Luke Skywalker, whom he stayed with throughout most of the Galactic Civil War
