Rido Kuran is a pureblood vampire, Senri Shiki's father, elder brother to Haruka and Juri Kuran. Shizuka Hio was his fiancée. He is the main antagonist of the story. According to Asato Ichijo, he is the true head of the Kuran family. Ten years ago, seeking to take the Kuran princess, Yuki- Rido killed his brother, Haruka. Kaname attempted to kill Rido, but found he was unable to and a triumphant Rido revealed that as the one who revived Kaname, he is Kaname's master. Instead Kaname reduced Rido to the state where he required another pureblood vampire's blood in order to revive fully. Secretly aided by the Ancient Vampire Council and the Hunters' Association, Rido manipulates events from the shadows by transferring his soul to other bodies and taking control. Rido possesses eyes of two different colors (crimson and blue), and when his soul is transferred to a different body, that body has eyes of two different colors. Rido's takes possession of his son's body and returns to Cross Academy. After a brief confrontation with Kaname and later Rima, Kaname gives his blood to Rido's body in order to restore Rido to his original body. Ichiru reveals that Rido is the one who added Shizuka's ex-human lover to the list of Level E vampires to be liquidated by the Hunter's Association. Following his true body's revival, Rido's vampires sense his revival and begin to attack the school students, in order to capture prey for Rido to feed on. Ichiru attempts to kill Rido as revenge for Shizuka, but instead is mortally wounded by Rido. Rido attempts to compel Aido to feed upon him, but is thwarted by his niece. Seeing Yuki's resemblance to her mother, Rido changes his original desire from eating Yuki (in order to gain power) to instead taking Yuki as his lover as a replacement for Juri, who he loved but never wanted him. Rido's life comes to an end when he is defeated by Yuki and Zero.
Age: 13 Birthday: January 25, 2002 Known Relatives: Kodama (older sister), Nozomi (younger sister) Hikari Horaki (洞木 ヒカリ Horaki Hikari) is the class representative of the class that Shinji and the other Eva pilots attend. Like all of her classmates, she is an unknowing Eva pilot candidate. She has a by-the-book demeanor and takes her responsibilities as "class rep" seriously. Although she frequently bickers with Toji, she reveals to Asuka that she has an enormous crush on Toji but is unable to openly express her feelings to him. She also appears to be Asuka's only friend. After the battle with Arael, Asuka seeks out Hikari and stays with her for an unspecified time. During a late evening she reveals her inner insecurities to Hikari, a testament to their friendship; however, Hikari appears saddened by the hateful words Asuka uses. Hikari is an accomplished cook who appears to take care of her two sisters. Like presumably every one of Shinji's classmates, Hikari's mother is deceased. No references are made as to whether her father is either. Like Kensuke, Hikari is named after a character in the novel The Fascism of Love and Fantasies (Ai to Gensou no Fascism) by Ryu Murakami. Age: 14 Birthday: December 26, 2001 Known relatives: Sakura Suzuhara (sister) Toji Suzuhara is the Fourth Child. Toji is a tough boy, the stereotypical "jock," and is in constant conflict with Asuka. His younger sister was injured in the battle between the third Angel, Sachiel, and Unit 01, and he beats Shinji up soon after for being indirectly responsible. However, after witnessing firsthand the suffering Shinji experiences piloting Unit 01 in the battle against Shamshel, Toji comes to respect Shinji and the two eventually become friends. Toji's Eva, Unit 03, is taken over by the thirteenth Angel, Bardiel, and is eventually destroyed by Unit 01, which was under the control of the Dummy Plug system. He is severely injured when his Entry Plug is crushed; in the manga, he is killed. Toji is named after one of the main characters in the novel The Fascism of Love and Fantasy (Ai to Gensou no Fascism) by Ryu Murakami.
Kaji appears in episode 16, "Sunrise Serpent." He enlists the help of Ginko to get to the bottom of his mother's ever-worsening memory problems.
