Birth Date: June 11th Age: 27-28 (Part I), 31 (Part II) Weight: 54.4 kg Height: 169.1 cm Ninja Registry No: 010881 Ninja Rank: Jounin Kurenai Yuuhi is the Konoha Jounin in charge of Team 8, which consists of Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, and Hinata Hyuuga. Kurenai's team specializes in tracking, and she herself is a highly talented genjutsu specialist. While she has a close bond with all of her students, she is especially concerned for Hinata. Kurenai knows how Hinata is viewed by her father, even though she is technically the heiress of the clan since she is the eldest child. She is also aware of her student's infatuation for Naruto Uzumaki. When Hinata tried to offer Naruto some medicine after his fight with Kiba, Naruto was hesitant to take it. Kurenai convinced him to take it. Her personality is unyielding, honest, and simple. She also says she is a "big sister type". Three years later, she is pregnant with Asuma's child.
The Nine-Tailed Demon Fox is the most powerful of the tailed beasts, also considered the "King of the Tailed Beasts." Its power is such that it is regarded as an age-old natural disaster, as a single swipe of one of its nine tails is enough to raise tsunamis and flatten mountains. One of its special abilities is that it has access to close to unlimited sources of chakra. The demon fox's attacks were seemingly random, the only apparent reason for its appearances being its attraction to places of human malice. It attacked Konohagakure twelve years before the start of the series. None of the ninja of the village were able to defeat it until the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, arrived to deal with it. Minato sacrificed his life to seal the fox into the body of his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki, with the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. Rather than completely seal off the fox's great power, however, Minato only sealed away a portion of it, giving Naruto access to the rest for unknown reasons. Prior to performing the seal Minato gave a key to Jiraiya to either strengthen or weaken the seal should the need arise. The seal naturally becomes weaker as the years pass, and in the event that it is broken the demon fox will be released; however, the bond between Naruto and Kyuubi, and the bond between Jinchuuriki (host) and tailed beast in general, is of a such character that if the seal is broken, Naruto will die immediately thereafter. And if Naruto dies, and the seal is not broken, Kyuubi will die with him. Therefore Kyuubi uses some of its chakra to enhance Naruto's healing abilities and will sometimes "take over" (lend Naruto its chakra without him asking for it) in order to keep him alive.
Gamakichi (ガマ; Literally meaning "Propitious Toad") is one of Gamabunta's children. He was first summoned by Naruto Uzumaki because Naruto couldn't focus his chakra during the beginning of the battle with Gaara. However, he is intelligent enough to be aware of the situation around him and realize when it's time to flee. During the Sannin battle, Gamakichi was accidentally summoned again by Jiraiya while he was fighting with Orochimaru because Tsunade had secretly fed Jiraiya a chakra-disrupting potion.
Ranmaru has an androgynous appearance and a soft, almost feminine voice. Ranmaru grew up with a weak body, but the farmers living near him gave him food to survive. One day, he used his kekkei genkai, and accidentally revealed witnessing an injury that he otherwise could not have seen. The villagers realized that he was strange and stopped feeding him. Ranmaru became lonely after a while. Not long afterward, Raiga arrived in the course of a mission, and was planning on killing Ranmaru, but Ranmaru revealed his ability and his perception of the sorrow within Raiga. Raiga then carried him on his back, allowing Ranmaru to see the outside world. After Raiga's defection, he and Raiga enslaved a town and forced its villagers to work in its mines, also assembling some followers (including Karashi) to form the Kurosuki family. Aoba served as a Jnin ninja in Hidden Leaf Village.
Age: 22 on surface, though immortal. From: Yugakure, the Village Hidden in the Steam Weapon: 3-headed Scythe Partner: Kakuzu Religion: Jashin-ism Because he is a member of the Jashin religion, Hidan has immortality. This immortality will end, however, if he does not regularly sacrifice people to Jashin. This is a religion that worships a deity of the same name and where anything less than death and utter destruction is considered a sin. His religion's experiments have led to the creation of his unique abilities; by consuming an opponent's blood and then drawing Jashin's triangular-design on the ground, Hidan can create a voodoo doll-like link with his opponent. Once this link is created, any damage done to Hidan's body is reflected on his opponent, allowing him to kill them by giving himself fatal injuries. Because he is immortal, Hidan is not impaired while doing this, instead finding pleasure in the pain it causes him. Hidan is sadistic, arrogant, rude, and impatient. All qualities which his partner, Kakuzu, finds annoying. He and his partner, Kakuzu, fight and argue constantly, so it might be a wonder why they are put on the same team. Kakuzu actually commented that he and Hidan made the perfect team, because even thought Kakuzu has the urge to kill Hidan often, he is unable to due to his partner's immortality. Because Kakuzu is considered immortal as well, their own fellow Akatsuki member, Kisame Hoshigake, jokingly referred to the team as the "Zombi Combi". Hidan likes to annoy the other members of the Akatsuki, and even refers to them by insulting nicknames, such as "Dei-chan". He dislikes Pain's authority over him and openly challenges him in front of others. Hidan's aggressiveness is the reason he left his village, where he was frustrated by the peace and lack of violence, before leaving he slaughtered many of his neighbours in cold-blood for entertainment. Hidan is now likely to be dead, since he's decapitated, further sacrifices are impossible. His killer was Shikamaru, who killed him to avenge Asuma's death.
Juugo is the largest of the three members that comprise Sasuke Uchiha's new team, Snake (which is now Hawk). Juugo was being held at Orochimaru's North Base, which is also where most of Orochimaru's secret research was conducted. Suigetsu can't stand Juugo and comments that one of the reasons he had to retrieve Zabuza Momochi's sword was because of him. Karin notes that Juugo is mentally unstable, a view confirmed by images of Juugo muttering to himself over who he will kill next, which he determines by gender. Juugo is the means behind Orochimaru's development of the cursed seals. Some time in the past, Juugo purposely sought out Orochimaru to cure him of his "impulses." Juugo has trouble controlling his rage, which unexpectedly causes him to transform into a berserk demon (much like a cursed seal does to its user). Upon examination, Orochimaru was able to isolate enzymes in Juugo's blood as the cause of this change. By extracting these enzymes, Orochimaru was able to use them to produce similar, but more controlled, effects in other people. While Juugo initially appears quite bloodthirsty, Karin notes that this is only common behavior for the enraged; Juugo himself doesn't want to kill anyone. Juugo's fits of rage are random and thus the reason why he willingly remains confined. The only reason he agrees to go with Sasuke is because he views Sasuke as the only person capable of preventing him from killing people while enraged. Before Sasuke, it was Kimimaro who kept Juugo in check and as Kimimaro was the only person Juugo came into any contact with, the two grew close. After hearing that Kimimaro sacrificed his life to deliver Sasuke to Orochimaru, Juugo believes that Kimimaro's spirit continues to live on in Sasuke. Juugo has a bracket-shaped symbol on his left palm. Whether or not this is also present on his right palm or if it has any significance has yet to be seen. His brief fight with Sasuke and Suigetsu revealed that Juugo can control his transformation, unlike the static effects of a standard cursed seal. When battling Sasuke he changes his left arm into a piston-like ram to increase his punching power and then alters it into a massive blade from his forearm to fight Suigetsu. He is also capable of doing only a partial transformation, invoking a level two form over one portion of his body without completely changing. While discussing Sasuke's team with the other members of Akatsuki, the Akatsuki leader refers to Juugo as Juugo of the Scales (天秤, Tenbin no Jūgo, "scale" referring to something that determines balance). Whether this is a title or a location is unclear. After Team Snake is dispatched on their mission into the forest, Juugo commences his search by activating his special enzyme and asking a bird for information.
