The main protagonist of the series. Despite his looks and easygoing personality, he is a capable and strong worker who works for Benika as a dispute mediator. When he was young, he lost his family in a terrorist attack. As a result, he became withdrawn from the world until he met Benika. He wished to be as strong as her so he could live on. Benika decided to leave him at the Hzuki household. It was there that he trained his body extensively and learned Hzuki-style martial arts. His kind demeanor attracts considerable attention from the opposite gender, though he is completely oblivious. In emergencies, he is able to produce a large 'horn' out of his right elbow which classes him as "Type 1 Class 2 Fighting Demon". This special weapon was designed for the purpose of assassination. This lets him use his full strength in combat, but shortens his lifespan. When he is forced to fight, his personality changes to a more aggressive one. Between the anime and the manga, there are differences in the way Shinkur is depicted. In the anime, Shinkur is not as confident and appears to have less control over the Hozuki horn.

She is the first to meet the school's New Teacher, introducing herself as the Belgium-made assault rifle FNC. She also goes by the nickname 'Funko' from her older sister FAL who also had the name entered in FNC's teacher's student list (assumed to have used her position as Student Council President and good relationship with the teachers to do so) much to FNC's chargin. Because of the skeleton stock on her weapon-self she wears a T-back which gets her picked on due to an incident with the New Teacher calling her "T-back girl" and her literal return-fire putting him in the hospital twice. During the "extra lesson" battle against her older sister FAL, M14, and G3 she is one of the last to survive (along with SIG) until the New Teacher interrupts and drags her and L85A1 away for being in the upperclassman area.

A 7th-grader attending Seiho Academy. An only child, his family owns the shop Iori Models, and he's been a Gunpla fan from a young age. Both his building technique and his Gundam knowledge put many adults to shame. However, he's a poor Gunpla Battler with a long record of washing out in the first round. It's confirmed that Sei is the creator of a customized GAT-X105 Strike Gundam model, the GAT-X105SEI Build Strike Gundam: A model focusing on mobility, it specializes in quick, hit-and-run attacks. Riza Hawkeye is Roy Mustang's most trusted subordinate. She carries out many of the tasks he is too lazy to do, acts as his personal assistant, and protects him from danger. She also doubles as his voice of reason, keeping cool in heated situations and scolding him when he allows his emotions to get in the way. Riza and Roy seem to share a close relationship in both adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist; in the anime she identifies him as her most precious person, whereas in the manga she loses her resolve to live when believing he has been killed. Riza specializes in firearms, particularly sniper rifles, and can hit nearly any target with lethal accuracy. She adopts a dog, called Black Hayate in both the anime and the manga, which she raises with stern discipline; when Hayate goes to the bathroom inside, she shoots at the wall behind him to reinforce that doing so is bad.
Maes Hughes is a character that is hard not to love. He is often seen as the comedy relief but has his debuts as a serious and skilled fighter. He is best friends with Roy Mustang (and would do anything to help Roy achieve his goals) and a loving and devoted husband/father. Maes would do anything for his wife Gracia and always carries pictures of his daughter Elycia in his uniform and never misses a chance to show everyone how cute she is. He starts out in the anime as a Major in the Investigation Division and eventually becomes a Lieutenant Colonel. He is killed by Envy upon his discovery of Father's plans, and is posthumously promoted to Brigadier General after his death.
He's first seen wrestling with E. Honda in Calcutta to win prize money. Dhalsim manages to slip away from his grip however, and attempts to mentally subdue Honda. Ryu's presence however distracts Dhalsim enough for Honda to regain control of the match and win due to forfeit.
