Background Amaru is a young girl who came from a village in the Land of Fire. When she was an infant, the Reibi was sealed into her to feed off the negative emotions of her surrounding villagers. Because of this, she became alone and shunned from social interaction with the people of her her village all her life. Later, she fell sick and was rescued by a kind doctor named Shinn�, who Amaru grew to idolize. After which, Amaru insisted for Shinn� to make her his student, to which he agreed. Naruto Shippūden 2: BondsAfter the infamous Sky Ninja decimated Konohagakure, Amaru arrived to aid in healing people alongside her sensei Shinn�. She quickly made it clear how much she admired her teacher. After helping with the injured, she and Shinn� were escorted back to their village by Naruto, Sakura, and Hinata. Upon arriving at the village, they discovered that it too was destroyed by the Sky Ninja. Horrified by the sight, Amaru accidentally triggered a trap that would have killed her had Shinn� not saved her at the cost of his own life. Wanting to make her sensei proud, Amaru joined Naruto in rescuing the villagers, which lead them to an old ruins that turned out to be the Sky Ninja's headquarters and mother ship. To Amaru's delight, she discovered that Shinn� was still alive. But her joy quickly turned to horror as Shinn� revealed that he was working with the Sky Ninja and that the kind man he appeared to be was a lie. He also revealed to have been the one who implanted the Reibi in her, so as to gather massive amounts of dark chakra. Falling into despair, she was given new hope from Naruto who convinced her that while Shinn� himself may have not believed in what he taught her, there is truth to valuing life. Amaru then went off to find and rescue the villagers that were locked up. When the mother ship began crashing from the sky, Naruto forced her to join the villagers in a smaller ship, but she chose to jump after Naruto to be there for him for a change. Shinnou was the main villain in Naruto Shippūden 2: Bonds. He was the sensei of Amaru. He came to Amaru's village 15 years ago and after saving her life from a terrible illness, he was welcomed as a member of the village. During which, he revealed to be a former ninja who turned away from the path of battle to help save lives instead. When first introduced he and Amaru came to Konoha to get help for there village when the Sky Ninja appeared. During which, he demonstrated tremendous medical prowess be saving the lives several near-death victims from the Sky Ninja's attack. He and Amaru where then escorted back to their village by Naruto, Sakura, and Hinata. To their horror, when they arrived they found the village in ruins. When Amaru accidentally set of a trap, Shinnou quickly jumped in to save her seemingly at the cost of his own life. Later, he reappeared perfectly fine and revealed he used a special jutsu to create the illusion of death. He also revealed his affilation with the Sky Ninja and that the kind doctor he portrayed for years was nothing but a lie to gain Amaru's trust. He also revealed to have been the one who sealed the horrible Reibi within her to gather as much Dark Chakra from the villagers as possible. He then used the dark chakra to transform into what he called the "Ultimate Body", gaining tremendous physical prowess and the ability to freely manipulate his chakra. Initially, Shinnou repeatedly and effortless demolished Naruto no despite all his attempts, but after Naruto realized Shinnou's power came from Amaru's negative emotions from feeling betrayed, Naruto helped her to let got of her those feelings, stripping Shinnou of his power source and enabling Naruto to defeat him. Unfortunately, before the final blow could be made, Sasuke appeared and intervened as he was ordered by Orochimaru to retrieve the man. Already seeing through Shinnou's power, Sasuke used his Chidori Senbon to disrupt Shinnou's chakra flow, tricking Shinnou to strip himself of all his power and reducing him to a withered old man. Growing desperate, Shinnou retreated to a chamber with the main source of dark chakra. There, he merged with the Reibi's seedling and attempted finish off Naruto and Sasuke once and for one. But once the two unleashed the Nine-Tail's and the Cursed Seal's chakra, they were able to overfeed the cocoon and destroy it along with Shinnou.

Despite being vehemently against otaku activities such as wearing nekomimi (cat-ears) at the start of the series, Saki eventually becomes comfortable with the other club members to the point that she can be considered their close friend (aside from the possible exception of Kuchiki). Saki has a tendency to use nicknames. She calls Sasahara "Sasayan", Kugayama "Kugapii", and Ogiue "Ogichin" by nicknames, and even though she at first refuses to call Kuchiki by his self-appointed nickname ("Kucchi"), Saki starts using that nickname as well. Ogiue is a blunt, self-hating fujoshi and amateur artist whose inner turmoil is the focus of much of the second half of Genshiken. Ogiue hails from the Tohoku region of Japan in the northeast, and as such frequently tries to hide her accent while she attends college in the Tokyo area. When put under pressure though her accent tends to slip through. Her eyesight is incredibly bad, and requires the use of contact lenses or glasses. Ogiue is a fan of yaoi and boys' love, and her taste in doujinshi stems from a preference for shounen series. Among the series she likes are Scram Dunk (Slam Dunk), Haregan (Fullmetal Alchemist), Reass Mood (Code Geass), and Wotaru (Wataru). In junior high, at the request of her friend Nakajima, Ogiue drew a yaoi d�jinshi of a boy named Makita, whom she had been secretly dating. Makita found the d�jinshi and soon after transferred to a different school. This incident is the source of Ogiue's trauma and self-hatred, and it continues to haunt her until she begins to date Sasahara, who is much more understanding of her yaoi fantasies and love of drawing. Ogiue eventually obtains a publishing deal with Monthly Afternoon, the very magazine in which Genshiken was published. In the relaunch of the manga, Ogiue managed to draw in three new members to Genshiken (not counting Sue) thanks to her large artwork demonstration.
