Obito Uchiha was teammates with Kakashi Hatake and Rin under the Fourth Hokage. Obito was frequently late for missions due to the random good deeds he would carry out, which greatly irritated Kakashi. He also seemed to have had a crush on Rin. When Rin is kidnapped during the Kakashi Gaiden arc, Kakashi, the current team leader, insisted that they continue the mission instead of saving her. Citing that those who do not save their teammates are no better than trash, Obito refused and eventually managed to persuade Kakashi to join him. During their rescue effort Kakashi lost his left eye as a result of an enemy ninja's attack, and Obito awakened his Sharingan to save Kakashi and defeat the ninja. Once finding Rin, Obito again saved Kakashi by pushing him out of the way of a rock slide, though has his right side crushed in the process. Unable to escape with his teammates, Obito had Rin implant his remaining Sharingan eye in Kakashi's damaged eye socket as a gift. In chapter 599 it is revealed that Tobi is actually Obito Uchiha who was teammates with Kakashi Hatake and Rin under the Fourth Hokage.

Hiruko (�留呼) is the main antagonist of Naruto Shippūden 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire. He is a missing-nin of Konohagakure who wishes to plunge the world into a Fourth Great Shinobi World War, and then conquer it. Though he was born with no natural special abilities, Hiruko compensates by using the Chimera Technique, a kinjutsu which he developed, allowing him to obtain Kekkei Genkai by integrating the bodies of other ninja with his own. Having already stolen four Kekkei Genkai from the other Great Nations, Hiruko possesses other abilities and physical traits from his victims, such as enhanced strength, and seeks to obtain more. In addition to these abilities, Hiruko and his followers are able to use the Chimera Technique to produce creatures that are literal chimeras, including a large, bird-like monster that molts explosive feathers and wolf-like beasts that attack using appendages resembling tentacles. Through his Chimera Technique, Hiruko has acquired four Kekkei Genkai: Steel Release, Swift Release, Dark Release, and Storm Release and also an Unnamed Three-eyed technique. Akamaru is the nin-dog of Inuzuka Kiba. He is his best friend and plays an important part in all of Kiba's attacks. As a puppy, he is either in Kiba's jacket or on his head, but he later grows to be so large that Kiba can ride him. He has very good senses, even for a dog, and can communicate with Kiba. Akamaru's name means "red" (with "maru" at the end, which is simply an ending for a boy's name. Other males in the show share the suffix). When he eats a solider pill, his fur turns a dark red color. Akamaru's seiyuu is Takeuchi Junko, who also plays the main character Uzumaki Naruto.
